A Good Antique English Flintlock Officer's or Gentleman's Flintlock Traveling or Dueling Pistol by BASS, c. 1788-1795. 9", .36 caliber octagon (rifled) iron barrel held to the stock with barrel wedges. The pistol is in its original flintlock configuration. The flat, stepped lock plate is simply maker marked "BASS" and has a high-quality roller frizzen spring. All iron furniture includes an engraved trigger guard with pineapple finial. Original horn tipped wood ram rod. The stock has an old mended repair on the right side of the fore-end on the right side near muzzle, overall solid with scratches and dings from years of handling.
